Irony in advertising in News

This morning on NBC Matt Laurer told the story of a doctor who was being sued for telling a women she was obese. Specifically, after repeatedly ignored attempts of politely explaining to her the dangers of obesity, and recommending she start a diet program, the doctor took a tougher stance. He told her that generally obese women are less attractive - citing statistics.

After Matt grilled the man to see if he really earned the law suit, the segment closed, and NBC identified the segment's sponsor.

"This report has been brought to you by Little Debbie Snack Cakes."

Was this a great twist by a producer or simple happenstance? And what would Little Debbie think?
